We're short of 20 cents dear....

As usual, my fiance (Dukey) and I went for a walk at 6 this morning. It has been our daily morning routine for the past few weeks now and I was never a morning person anyway. But ever since our morning routine i started to enjoy waking up early just to walk! Arise and shine! Of course at first it was more of i-don't-have-a-choice kind of thing because i have to keep fit but gradually it is something that i look forward to everyday.

Well, this morning was not really a 'usual' morning walk. Besides being in a half walking-half snoozing state, i didn't know why i was grumbling all the way. Perhaps i preferred to be in bed then. But amazingly it took us about half an hour to complete our 2km walk, which usually takes us at least 45 minutes(We time ourselves just for the record). Maybe i was motivated by the fact that i could go to bed once i finished my walk.

Before we walked back to our respective homes (dukey and i live in the same neighbourhood) we stopped by a coffee shop to have a drink. We placed our order (fresh soya for dukey and nescafe for me. I know i know coffee is a big no-no after working out but when i saw this uncle preparing drinks (he makes good drinks) i didn't want to miss his coffee. Bad excuse....).

"Rm2.40 please", said this tall foreign waiter after putting our drinks on the table.

Dukey looked at me and asked, "Do you have 20 cents with you?"

"Nope. I don't bring a single cent with me." I answered. "Why?"

"That's because i only have Rm2.20 with me. We're short of 20 cents, dear".

Instead of panicking, i let a soft giggle. It was one of our ooopppss moments, again. Dukey told the waiter to give him a minute and handed him Rm2.20 before he ran home (Thank God his house is just around the corner) and returned with 20 cents in his hands and paid the waiter. My knight in shinning armour...awww.....

This whole incident taught me to stay cool in any situation (this morning was not a bad one but still..) but i can't guarantee that i won't panic next time. Lesson learned - always dig deeper into your pockets and check every penny before putting an order because a penny worth a ......err....please fill in the blank.....thank you!
